A group of foreign teens attending a Thai class were adored (and sexualized) by the internet in the past week when a photo of them went viral under the Thai hashtag #FarangHelpMeAttainNirvana.
We don’t want to try and guess what “attain nirvana” refers to, but the hashtag is commonly used by Thais to caption photos of gorgeous white people.

The photos of the exchange students at Kasetsart University circulated on Twitter and local media sites this week due to most people enjoying the sight of blonde babes learning basic Thai.
Sentences like “Sawad-dee krap. Khun cheu arai krap? Phom cheu Richard” are written on the board.

While many people admire the foreigners for embracing Thai culture, others felt the photos show how unfair the world is.
“White people can do anything and look good. How come nobody thought an Asian like me was cute when I studied English in LA?” Poby Thanak wrote.
The answer is simple: Poby should have helped someone attain nirvana.
