Famous folk singer, Chatchai Mongkolthong died at 52 on stage

Chatchai Mongkolthong, the legendary folk singer of the south, passed away at 52 last night after he collapsed on stage at his concert in Phatthalung province.

The famous artist, whose real name as Sanguansak Nurod, was performing for over 3,000 people at Baan Huai Ruea when he tragically died.

It was reported that Chatchai’s heart stopped before he reached Pabon Hospital. He was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Chatchai debuted as a singer when he was 14 years old and was brought to fame by Chatthong Mongkolthong, the most famous southern artist at the time. Chatchai recorded hundreds of songs, Thairath reported.
