A group of ten officers swept through Thepprasit Market in South Pattaya seizing armfuls of counterfeit goods including clothing, handbags, watches and shoes last night.
The counterfeit items seized were worth over THB1 million. The cops, who were identified as from the Economic Crime Suppression Division, loaded the items into a van and left the market.
Pattaya One’s reporters saw the officers at the market. Apparently, that unit’s leader, who identified himself as Pol. Lt. Col. Tienchai Lertmaneetaweesap, asked those reporters for their ID before explaining that there were many copyright violations at the market and needed to clamp down.
Just one problem.
When reporters followed up with Pattaya Police to get details about the raid for a story, Pol. Lt. Col. Pawatchai Soodsakorn, the Sub-Inspector who supervises Thepprasit Market, said that there was no raid by the Economic Crime Suppression Division at the market.
