Imagine never being disturbed by prank callers, telemarketers, or insurance agents on the phone ever again. It’s a nice thought.

The thought, in fact, sparked an idea for the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC), to create a new mobile application, “Kan Kuan” (Thai for “No disturbance”), which will block all cold-calling numbers reported by citizens. Despite the helpful concept, sadly, the app, which was launched this week, doesn’t work.

According to Manager, the predicted number of downloads was 40,000 for the first month of the application’s launch. Though Kan Kuan was meant to be a big hit, that wasn’t the case.

With an overall rating of two stars on iOS 3.3 on Google Play, many people said that they couldn’t complete the app’s registration, which requires users to put in their Thai ID numbers and phone numbers to receive the OTP (one time password).

“I have been waiting for the OTP for 3 days now. Are you gonna send it or not? This sucks. To the government: fix it immediately,” commented a user who gave the app a one-star review.

“Embarrassing! People nationwide are waiting for the OTP. It shows that you suck,” another user wrote.

Coconuts also tried registering for the app, but nearly 24 hours later, we are still waiting for the password.

Nice try, NBTC.
