Surfing the interwebs while flying the friendly skies may soon become a reality in Thailand.
Jedsada Siwarak, the secretary of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC), said that a license request from Thai Airways to provide in-flight Internet is being considered and that the airline can expect to launch the service in September.
Thai Airways submitted their request to the NBTC two years ago for standard 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. After the license is issued, Thai Airways will have to choose between in-flight service providers OnAir and Arrow, MThai reported.
In-flight internet has been available on Virgin America flights in the US for a few years.
