Ex-monk’s nephew busted for burning motorcycle in protest

A nephew of Wiraphon Sukphon, a former monk who is facing three criminal charges, was arrested Thursday for disturbing the peace after he set his motorbike ablaze to protest the Department of Special Investigation (DSI).

Supun Gonhin, 23, allegedly threw an epic tantrum after visiting the DSI’s office where he submitted a letter in support of his embattled uncle. Shortly after handing in the document, Supon was asked to leave the building, but he made a point of making a memorable exit. Supun rode his motorcycle to the office’s front entrance, threw his helmet to the floor and set the vehicle on fire.

Authorities rushed to extinguish the flames and remove the charred motorbike before handing Supun over to the Thung Song Hong police for interrogation. He will also get drug tested, the Dailynews reports.
