Employee bus driver shoots passenger to death

The driver of a bus transporting employees of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand allegedly shot a passenger to death this morning before jumping off the bus and escaping in a taxi in the capital’s Bang Phlat district.

Driver Sathit Jumthong, 40, reportedly stopped the bus midway on Sirithon Road, walked to the back where eight employees were dozing off and and shot Sophon Jiarapakanon, 56, once in the chest and once in the neck.

The gunshot awoke the other passengers, at which point Sathit wai’d them, police said.

“I’m sorry. This is personal,” he reportedly said before walking off the bus and hailing a taxi.

Sathit was supposed to take the employees to work at a power plant in the Phra Nakhon district

Witnesses said Sathit and the deceased often argued, but they had no clue just what his (alleged) murderous motive was.

Police will track down Sathit, Thairath and Sanook reported.
