Royal Thai Police chief Gen. Adul Sangsingkaew has suggested the Emergency Decree could be lifted prior to its expiration later this month because police are capable of dealing with the current anti-government protests.
The decree is set to expire March 23. Adul also said the Royal Thai Police has everything under control in the capital and reassured the public the agency is prepared to deal with various emergency situations.
Meanwhile, tourism chief Somsak Pureesrisak said today he supports lifting the decree following a sharp decline in arrivals.
During the past two months, he said about 45,000 persons have arrived per day, down from 70,000 persons at this time in 2013, MCOT reported.
