Elle Fashion Film Festival, the first exhibition in Thailand combining the big screen and fashion, starts today and runs until Sept 15 at SFX Cinema, Emporium.
The nine films based on the theme of fashion were selected by top Thai fashion critics and designers and they portray fashion in the same way a top designer would using models on a runway. An art installation will be displayed as part of the festival on the first floor, Fashion Avenue, Emporium.
A Single Man (USA, 2009): Directed by former Gucci designer, Tom Ford. The film is the story of an English college professor who suffers from pain and depression after his boyfriend’s death.
Blancanieves (Spain, 2012): A black and white silent film based on the fairy tale Snow White, centered on a female bullfighter in 1920.
I Am Love (Italy, 2009): A tragic love story set at the turn of the millennium in Milan, following the fall of the haute bourgeoisie due to the forces of passion and unconditional love.
L’Amour Fou (France, 2010): Documentary on the relationship between fashion designer Yves Saint-Laurent and his lover, Pierre Berge.
Face (Taiwan-France, 2009): Directed by Hsiao-Kang, a Taiwanese film director, who travels to the Louvre in Paris, France, to explore the Salomé myth.
Color Me Love (China, 2010): The journey of a Chinese girl who interns at a major fashion magazine in a big city and struggles to survive the high-maintenance and snobbish fashion world and her relationship.
Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky (France, 2009): A love story between Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky in the city of Paris in 1920, the year that Chanel No. 5 was created.
Heartbeats (Canada, 2010): The story of two friends, a straight woman and gay man, who both fall in love with the same man.
Farewell My Queen (France, 2010): A look at the relationship between Marie Antoinette and one of her readers during the first days of the French Revolution.
