Thailand is finally talking about the elephant in the room – literally.

An elephant that was filmed sticking its trunk into someone’s kitchen while searching for food has gotten practically the whole world talking. While the scene may be peculiar to some – especially for many of us urban dwellers – it’s just another day in the life of Kittichai Boodchan, who shared the video of the elephant rummaging through his kitchen cabinet on Sunday.

“It came to cook again,” he wrote in the video caption in Thai.

The clip showed the elephant poking its head and trunk through a hole of the damaged wall that was the result of a prior incident involving the same elephant back in May, he reportedly said.

The nearly 30-second video opened with the elephant’s trunk already ransacking his cabinet for a midnight snack, pushing objects onto the floor while doing so. It even picked up a white plastic bag and put it in its mouth.

Kittichai is said to live with his wife in Pa-la-U, where the nearby waterfall and lake are popular among elephants that often go there to bathe. That explains why the elephant’s visit in the wee hours of the morning did not worry him at all, he told reporters.
