Election Commission urges government to delay polls

The Election Commission of Thailand has urged the government to postpone the election due to continuing political turmoil.

At a news conference held this afternoon at 2pm, commission members said the Feb. 2 election cannot happen if the government, its opponents and other sectors of society do not reach a compromise.

Also, disruptions of the candidate registration process this week, they said, show it is not possible to go forward smoothly with election preparations, Springnews reported.
