Election Commission holds off on submitting decree for July 20 vote

With the fate of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra in the hands of judges expected to issue a ruling this afternoon, the Election Commission has announced it will not send a draft election decree to the cabinet as originally agreed.

The draft decree must be approved by the commission, government and palace before an election can be held.

The commission said it needed more time to resolve various legal issues and would ask Yingluck to consult on it again, The Nation reported.
