Yesterday a slumbering giant stirred.
In the morning on Tuesday, traffic across the Bangkok Bridge was halted, for the drawbridge to raise its spans on high to make way for a Thai war vessel and cargo ship navigating the Chao Phraya River.
The second bridge to span the Chao Phraya, the Bangkok Bridge connects the Dao Khanong and Bang Kho Laem districts and sits parallel to its much younger and stronger brother, the Rama III Bridge.
The amazing photos were posted on the Facebook page of the Traffic Control Center, and most netizens were in awe to see the 54-year-old bridge come alive.
