Problems with the Easy Pass automatic toll collection system has forced the Expressway Authority of Thailand (Exat) to send more staff out to the barriers.
Exat governor Aiyanat Tinarpai said the Easy Pass system can deduct tolls from prepaid tags, but upgrading the system caused it to ignore past values and show incorrect balances.
The incorrect balances left between 21,000 and 28,000 motorists stuck as barriers refused to open.
Exat aim to have the problem fixed by the end of the month, and Aiyanat urged drivers not to pay toll deposits into their Easy Pass accounts between 10pm and 4am, reported the Bangkok Post.
Tag users can check the value of their pass online, or ring the call center on 1534.
