If you are one of the 209,000 people who viewed a viral clip of a hand waving a head of cabbage around at Bangkok’s Coldplay concert last Friday, were one of the tens of thousands who shared the photo of the cabbage lying on the floor abandoned in the empty arena after the show, or one of the thousands lucky enough to be a the show and possibly see the cruciferous mischief for yourself, you’ll be pleased to know that BK Magazine tracked down the vegetable wielder himself to get the full story on why he was waving around a dinner ingredient at a stadium rock concert.
The man with the cabbage turned out to be 24-year-old Jacky Rattanachaya, who works in web design.
The photo that sent his cabbage action super viral was of the cabbage lying on the floor of the arena after the show. People couldn’t stop asking, “Who brings a cabbage to a concert?”
The way Jacky tells it, he just happened to walk through a veggie market on his way to the show and he felt like he should have something to wave around at the epic rock show. He simply saw the cabbage and thought it would serve his purpose.
He never had any intention to throw the vegetable at the stage, nor did he intend to cook with it afterwards.
As far as the mystery of why it was abandoned on the floor afterwards, he said that it fell from his hands and the crowd was so tightly packed and moving so swiftly that he quickly lost track of it on the floor and could not retrieve it.
He said that he heard people comment things such as “Who the hell brought this shit to Coldplay? What a legend.”
He was as surprised as anyone to wake up the next day and find that he and his veg had gone viral.
