Here’s a story that’s guaranteed to put your most embarrassing drunk story into perspective. Well, most of you.

This morning, an Estonian tourist — one who clearly has life figured out — was spotted casually snoozing on a mattress that was precariously perched on the awning of an unidentified building in Phuket.

Concerned citizens quickly called the local tourist police at about 10:30am, thinking the foreigner had perhaps jumped from the top of the building in Phuket’s Mueang District and landed there.

When officials arrived at the scene, however, they quickly realized the residents’ fears were unfounded, reported Khaosod.

The 38-year-old tourist, identified as Eerik Meister, hadn’t jumped off the building, he’d simply decided the awning was a better place to sleep and dragged his mattress out there.

Oh, drunk logic.

Meister and another Estonian friend, identified as 25-year-old Marten Oks, had reportedly been staying at the building since last Wednesday.

The pair, who allegedly exhibited drunken behavior when roused today, also caused damage to property inside their room, police told Matichon.

The two were taken to Chalong Police Station where they were charged with being drunk and damaging property. No mattress-related crimes were cited.

They have reportedly agreed to pay for all the damages before heading home next Tuesday.
