Eight chefs from far corners of the globe will converge on Bangkok September 3rd to cook you up some delicious meals. The occasion? The 2012 edition of the World Gourmet Festival, of course.
The Four Seasons Bangkok will play host to these worldly chefs as they put on exclusive dinners at the hotel’s restaurants like Spice Market, which is designed to look like an old Thai spice shop.
The line up of chefs looks very Western, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing – Bangkok’s food scene could take a few hints from those of cities San Francisco or Mendoza:
-
- Shiqin Chen, La Rei, Il Boscareto, Piedmont, Italy
- Diego Irrera, 1884 Restaurante, Mendoza, Argentina
- Galvin Lim, Les Amis, Singapore
- Igor Macchia, La Credenza, Piedmont, Italy
- Michael Mina, MICHAEL MINA, San Francisco, USA
- Víctor Quintillà Imbernón, Lluerna, Barcelona, Spain
- Masa Shimakawa, ONYX, Los Angeles, USA
- Frédéric Vardon, LE 39V, Paris, France
A special sommelier will be flown in for the event in addition to the chefs, as well as quite possibly the most interesting person in the world: Jean-François Antony, a leading Eleveur de Fromage (elevator of cheese). His job is to hand select the world’s finest aged cheeses and supply them to the world’s finest chefs. He’s even been known to supply cheese to former French president Sarkozy.
There will also be an opportunity to enjoy lunches by these chefs as well, in case you’re short on time or dough. A lunch will cost roughly THB1,700 and a dinner will set you back around THB5,900.
