Indian Food Festival to tighten ties with Thailand

Although India isn’t part of the upcoming ASEAN community, it’s certainly making a strong attempt to build up ties with the impending economic zone. Specifically, the Thailand-India relationship is being fortified by two interesting upcoming events in Bangkok.

From Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, the Indian Embassy and the Centara Grand Hotel at Central World will host a weeklong Indian Food Festival at Ginger Restaurant on the hotel’s 24th floor.

Highlights of the food festival will include attendance by Mr. Amitav Ghosh, an Indian author who has been awarded the prestigious Padma Shri, an Indian award of excellence, for his work. Visiting chefs Gaurav Malhotra and Nand Kishore will be commanding the kitchen. These chefs have spent their career traveling the world preparing Indian cuisine for various heads of state.

On December 2nd, a group of 31 SUVs manufactured by Indian auto giant Mahindra, will stop in Bangkok on their Southeast Asian tour. The SUVs are taking part in the India-ASEAN car rally in which teams from each ASEAN nation cross through 8 ASEAN countries and the subcontinent of India in 22 days. The ceremony held in Bangkok will include a “flag-off” from Royal Plaza during the morning. PM Yingluck Shiniwatra has been invited to preside over the event.
