No more sneaking booze in a paper cup, yay!
While alcohol has been officially off the table (usually in said cup or a coffee mug) at restaurants in the COVID-iest provinces including Bangkok, the island of Phuket starting Friday will allow serving alcohol on-site again.
According to today’s new order by health officials, residents, sandboxers and anyone really (of age) can consume the stuff until 10pm. What about entertainment? Live music performances are allowed, but bands must be capped at five members in face masks at all times. Only singers are allowed to take off their mask while performing.
However, places deemed “entertainment venues” – and you know what we’re talking about – will remain shut until further notice. The island today reported 187 COVID infections with more than 4,400 people hospitalized.
While many provinces in the past few months have declared restaurant drinking verboten, it’s difficult to find a place that won’t agree to serve booze in an alternative drinking vessel. Bills to pay, and so on.
