“Dream until it’s reality. I’M HERE AT THE OSCARS!!!,” a Thai photographer wrote in a caption next to her selfie at the annual awards ceremony.
Jutharat “Poupay” Pinyodoonyachet, 30, said she had dreamed for years of being an official photographer at the Academy Awards. Her dream came true on Sunday as she was flown to Los Angeles to capture the not-red-carpet, Oscar-worthy moments.
“I was so excited. It’s one the most major events in my life,” Poupay wrote.
The Thai-born photographer lives in New York where she is a regular contributor for publications including The New York Times, New York Magazine, The New Yorker, and The Wall Street Journal.
A mass communication graduate of Chulalongkorn University, Poupay developed her passion for photography, originally a hobby, into a profession.
“Looking back now, as a person who started photography as a hobby, I feel like I’ve come a long way,” Poupay said. “I want to thank every encouragement that led me to where I am today … After this, I will continue to grow and contribute to the industry.”
