Mama brand noodles are so famously associated with a basic food staple that any type of instant noodles are simply called “mama.”
Aware of its responsibility for keeping Thailand fed and sweating on a budget, Mama-maker THai President Foods Public Co. Ltd. said prices won’t increase for consumers, despite losses at the company.
Pipat Paniengvet, CEO of Thai President, said rising production costs would not change the THB6 per pack price, as customers have been hurt by higher costs of living.
This has to be good news for those who depend on the low-cost noodles to accompany their lobster and caviar.
Consumer watchdogs at the Department of Internal Trade confirmed it had not received any request to increase prices. However discounts given to retailers may be reduced, resulting in higher wholesale prices, NNT reported.
