Every parent deals with their child’s reluctance to go to school, but this Thai man took his daughter’s desire to ditch school seriously: “If you don’t go to school, you have to go to work like everybody else.”
Facebook user Hatairat Neramittanakul, who is the girl’s mother, posted pictures of her daughter “Pitta” working in the real world like an adult on Saturday.
Dressed in a yellow oversized T-shirt with an orange umbrella hat on her head, the girl sold fried bananas to motorists in traffic, accompanied by her dad. The post soon went viral and was featured in local media today.
Hatairat wrote that this was their way of responding to Pitta saying: “I don’t want to go to school.”
“When she said she didn’t want to go to school, I told her ‘It’s ok.’ If she doesn’t go to school, she has to work like everybody else.”
“When school bored her, she had to face the real world by selling food in traffic (with her dad right behind her).”
Hatairat wrote that they only let the girl sell four bags of fried bananas and stop when she complained about the weather. The parents gave her THB10 in wages to teach her how hard it is to earn money.
“Wow! Amazing parenting skills,” one Facebook user praised Hatairat. The sentiment was seconded by many.
