Pattaya police raided a marijuana growing operation and arrested Nataphol Phathanapratipluk, 29, recently after an informant tipped them off.
When officers entered the commercial building in Pattaya’s Baan Suan Muang area, they found 250 cannabis plants on the roof.
Upon investigation, police were able to figure out that Natapohol was a “knowledgable person with a maser’s degree” who liked weed and so decided to grow it himself, Pattaya Daily News reported.
The man confessed to growing marijuana for the last three years and said he had imported seeds from the US that cost THB3,000 for a pack of 10.
Police said they believed the growing operation was organic and one of the biggest illegal weed farms in Chonburi.
Nataphol was charged with “illegal plantation” of marijuana, Pattaya Daily News reported, and will receive a type 5 penalty.
