An airport employee was killed Friday when a plane operated by a low-cost carrier struck his tow vehicle at Don Mueang International Airport.

Nok Air flight DD6458 was being pulled across the tarmac into a turn at about 8am when the tug stopped moving and was overtaken and struck by the plane.

The collision severely injured driver Thanisorn Oncha-am. He was taken to a hospital where he died, according to Sumpun Kutranon, airport general manager.

The accident resulted in all passengers on the plane having to change to another aircraft, delaying their departure to Nakhon Si Thammarat by just over one hour.
