A large gang on a quest for vengeance assaulted medical personnel at one metro Bangkok hospital last night and then traveled to another, where they injured nurses and doctors and damaged property.
About 15 gang members unleashed violence at about 8:30pm at Muangsamut Hospital in Samut Prakan’s Pu Chao district, where a member of a rival gang had been admitted, police spokesman Col. Krissana Pattanachareon said today.
That was after they beat up medical personnel unable to save their associate from bleeding to death at the nearby Vibharam-Chaiprakan Hospital following a brawl two hours earlier.
A Vibharam-Chaiprakan rep who declined to give their name said a total of three staff members were injured by the gang.
Later on over at Muangsamut, they used baseball bats, mops, chairs and random objects as weapons to assault those visiting the patient who allegedly killed their guy.
Col. Krissana said tables, windows, doors and some medical equipment were damaged before the group fled the scene.
Calls to local police went unanswered Monday morning. A Muangsamut hospital rep reached by phone said they aren’t allowed to speak about the situation as the case is under investigation.
The police said that the knives came out earlier after they couldn’t come to terms on an unknown dispute. The ensuing melee left three people injured, who were sent to three different facilities, including Samrong General Hospital.
One died: Ratchapong Vassana, 23, was stabbed in the neck and abdomen and bled out in the emergency room.
The spokesman said the police are collecting evidence. The suspects will initially be charged with assault causing death and injury. Those at the hospitals face enhanced charges of night-time invasion of a medical place, property damage and aggravated assault.
