To help parents save and children get new school supplies, officials have organized a discount fair starting today.
From today through May 10, stationery products, garments, some food items and other supplies are slashed up to 70 percent off at department stores nationwide under a campaign by the Ministry of Commerce.
Spokeswoman Duangkamon Jiambuth explained the 11-day program is similar to an earlier end-of-year sales campaign, but this time for students and parents.
She added the cost of school uniforms this year would remain the same as last year, after the ministry held talks with manufacturers asking them to freeze prices for the time being, state media reported.
