After a long day, nothing’s better than being sexually harassed and pawed at during the ride home. In fact, police say women were getting just that – and paying for it – from a smutty taxi driver.
A 60-year-old Bangkok taxi driver was arrested Saturday for harassing three female university students during a ride to Malinon Tower in Khlong Toei district.
The students accused taxi driver Sukij Kasemduangjit of verbally harassing them and reaching into the back seat to grab their legs. One student managed to capture a photo as evidence before going to the police.
Action was taken after Channel 3’s Weekend News played a sound clip from the student’s conversation with an officer from the Dept. of Land Transport’s passenger protection center. In the call, the officer accused the girls of possibly teasing the taxi driver.
Saturday night, police in the Samrong Nuea area of Samut Prakarn province arrested Sukij at his home.
The news brought two more women, age 27 and 29, to file complaints with police about their experiences.
They claimed Sukij asked them to find him a girlfriend and asked questions about their sex lives.
The suspected pervert is being held in prison while further investigation continues.
If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison for sexual harassment, Sanook and Khaosod reported.
The hotline for complaints about taxi drivers is 1584.
