Although not much of anyone participated in the election, yesterday’s advance polling has been deemed a success because no one seems to have died.
Only 4.18 percent of 2.1 million voters who had registered to cast their votes early for the senate election turned up to do so.
Election officials said they were satisfied by the results.
Phuchong Nutrawong, Election Commission secretary-general, said a court’s decision Friday to throw out all of the votes from last month’s general election may have hurt voter confidence in the democratic process. He said the commission would fix the problem by handing out brochures to highway motorists reminding them to vote next weekend, NNT reported.
