Thailand’s murderous balconies would have claimed another soul last night – if it didn’t have eight to spare.
Mochi the cat fell from the fifth floor of an unspecified residential building and landed on the front window of a pickup truck Monday evening. Fortunately, Mochi only suffered a broken chin in the fall, according to his human companion Bambie, who took to TikTok with the good news.
The 19-year-old owner said the 18-month-old tabby, who weighs 4 kilograms, is healing from the injuries, and she is looking for a new condo with a fenced balcony.
Bambie said she took full responsibility for the damage to the truck. She said she negotiated her insurance bill down from THB10,000 to THB6,000.

Bambie noted that it’s been raining cats of late in Bangkok.
“I’ve seen news stories of other cats following from condos, and today my cat fell onto a car,” she wrote in a caption in the TikTok video.
Indeed, it was only one month ago that a chubbo kitty named Shifu fell from the sixth floor of a Bangkok condominium. Shifu – who at 8.5 kilograms weighed over twice Mochi – fully shattered the rear window of a red MG only to come to a stop in the back seat.
Unlike in Mochi’s case, the owner didn’t press charges and agreed to write off the damage, but the condo charged Sifu’s human companion for violating its no-pets policy.
