The bodies of a couple whose conflict led them to leap to their deaths from the Krungthep Bridge earlier this week were pulled from the water yesterday morning.
Potektueng Foundation volunteers retrieved the two bodies from the Chao Phraya River after they reportedly floated to the surface in the Bukkalo area of Thonburi district.
Witnesses said the deceased, identified as Natthaphol Duangprasertdee, 27, and Warathip Thanapairin, 24, jumped from the bridge Tuesday night in front of several onlookers.
Before the incident, the couple had dinner at a restaurant in the capital’s Bangrak district and got into a fight. At one point, they stopped the car in the middle of Krungthep Bridge, whereupon Warathip jumped into the river.
A distraught Natthaphol then jumped after his girlfriend, according to witnesses.
Police searched for three hours Wednesday morning but had to call off the operation due to fast-moving currents, Komchadluek and Siamrath reported.
