The Nan Provincial Livestock Office found more than a ton of illegally imported meats in a police raid in the Muang district.
Nawapan Pukampan was caught with 1,020 kilos of frozen buffalo meat, beef tongues and pork that was brought into Thailand from India and Brazil. The meat was discovered in a large cold storage room.
Nawapan, 27, was apparently renting the house and using it as a shady meat shop.
At the raid, Nawapan didn’t have import documents for the meat so she was charged with smuggling.The Livestock Department noted that importing buffalo meat from India and Brazil is not legal, according to Thai News Agency.
So, officials took all of her meat.
They said that they were planning to bury the meat later.
