Cyclone-driven rain to dampen Bangkok’s election weekend

Umbrellas may be essential accessories when voters go to the polls Sunday due to a storm front forecast to take Bangkok from scorching to soaking this weekend.

Thunderstorms are forecast across most of the capital starting with showers Friday evening and continuing overnight. Expect cloudy skies and some showers throughout Saturday and rainfall to return Sunday afternoon.

The precipitation is being driven by a cyclone currently bearing down on Myanmar that is expected to skirt Thailand.

Rain is expected across most of the kingdom except for the southern provinces.
Voting is set to take place Sunday in the first general election since 2019.
