Cyclists leave a mess on Car Free Day

Netizens exposed the garbage irresponsibly thrown away by cyclists on Sunday’s “Bangkok Car Free Day 2013”.

Thousands of people took part in the event last weekend to help save the planet by raising awareness about the use of bicycles and conserving fuel, but their actions and ideals seemed to go in the opposite direction.

A Pantip.com user shared photos of filthy streets in the Rajprasong neighborhood where people ate lunch after the half-day cycling marathon, which started from Sanam Luang.

Online commentators are divided on the issue, with many thinking that the evidence was a letdown and such activity was hypocritical. Yet some defended what the cyclists did by pointing out that public trash cans are rare in Bangkok.
