A young couple slept in a malodorous hotel room in Pattaya, Thailand on Friday, unaware that the smell was emanating from the corpse of a transgender woman under the bed.
The pair complained about the smell to the hotel staff upon checking in and asked for the room to be sprayed, but still spent the night.
The next morning, a maid noticed blood near the bed and called the police. Pattaya police and rescue workers found the body under the bed and estimated that the woman had been dead for three or four days.
Local media reported that two men had checked in to the room on Aug. 16 and brought a transgender female back at 1:35am on Aug. 18 before checking out a few hours later in the morning.
Pattaya Police Chief Pol. Col. Apichai Kropphet said that police have identified the two suspects from CCTV footage and are searching for them.
The woman’s body was sent for an autopsy.
