A Thai couple decided to put Pacquiao, their two-year-old pit bull, up for adoption after the dog attacked them twice at their home in Pathum Thani, resulting in the couple calling rescue volunteers for help.

The dog’s owner Janejira Kongkon, 23, said the dog bit her on the neck and hand on Saturday when she was trying to pet it when it was eating.

On Monday, as she attempted to get out of the house, the pit bull attempted to make another attack on her, but her boyfriend came to her rescue and got bitten on both legs as a result.

Since the dog would not let go of her boyfriend’s leg, Janejira grabbed a knife and cut the dog to stop the attack. Rescue volunteer stepped in and shot the dog with a tranquilizer before sending it to Thonglor Pet Hospital.

Janejira said she had raised Pacquiao since it was a puppy and insisted she never hurt the dog.

The pit bull suffered from two cuts on the neck and two deep wounds in the back. It is in the care of veterinarians at the hospital.

Noppadol Duangkaew, a dog behaviorist, said that Pacquiao may be protective of its food, so it attacked the owner while it was eating.

Pacquiao is currently up for adoption, but the couple wishes to visit the dog from time to time, Morning News reported.
