Famous luk thung star Sayan Sanya died on Wednesday afternoon after a long battle with liver cancer.
Sayan,60, was admitted to Thonburi Hospital in July for treatment for his liver cancer. Sayan’s condition got worse after the concert, and he passed away peacefully. His funeral will be held at Wat Rai King in Nakorn Pathom, where a religious ceremony will be practiced for 15 days in his honor.
Sayan Sanya was discovered by the famous songwriter Cholathee Tharnthong when he was 19-years-old, working at a petrol station. His fame owed to his signature hoarse voice and playful personality that his fans loved. During his music career, he recorded over 1,200 songs and was a legend of Thai country music, Komchadluek reported.
