Cops search for guide that helped 30 Chinese tourists avoid 50 baht fee at Ayutthaya temple

After temple officials recorded a Thai tour guide helping a group of Chinese tourists climb a wall to avoid paying the entry fee at Wat Sri Sanpetch in Ayutthaya province, police are now searching for the guide, identified as Pratyatorn Chanthayanont.

The event happened last Friday, when an officer caught the group of 30 tourists in the act of sneaking in and got into an argument with Pratyatorn. The guide eventually paid the entry fee for the group, reported Thai PBS.

However, tourism official Aeksara Suebsahapob later saw the video and said that even though the guide eventually paid the fee, he had still committed the crime of attempting to sneak in and needed to hear changes and face a fine of as much as THB5,000.

The fee to enter the ancient park? Just THB50 per person.

The police are now searching for the wayward guide.
