Cops raid ‘Heaven Herb’ weed delivery service, arrest 12

Eleven Thais and a Hong Kong national were arrested this morning after police found hundreds of marijuana plants and kilograms of drugs millions of baht at locations in Bangkok and its outskirts.

For allegedly operating a marijuana delivery service called “Heaven Herb,” 12 people were arrested at multiple venues where police say they found 317 marijuana plants, 7.5 kilograms of weed and 1 kilogram of magic mushrooms.

The venues police raided included a four-story building in Bangkok’s Ramkhamhaeng area, a house in Thonglor, and homes in both Pathum Thani and Ayutthaya provinces. The seized properties had an estimated street value of about THB6 million (USD$185,000), according to Lt. Gen. Pakkapong Pong petra, chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau.

They allegedly operated  via Line account @Heavenherb and dispatched deliverymen disguised as legit employees of platforms such as Grab or Foodpanda to deliver the goods.

The police said they confessed to operating the business over three years and produced the weed at a grow house in the Ramkhamhaeng area, where up to 10 kilograms of marijuana could be grown monthly.

The suspects were only identified by first names by police. All were charged with drug possession and distribution, Pakkapong said.

Though Thailand legalized medical marijuana in the final days of 2018, legal access remains limited. Though there has been talk of allowing households to grow cannabis plants, production is still strictly limited to government-approved facilities. Under the law, cannabis remains a Class 5 narcotic, though it is available from a growing number of approved hospital clinics.
