A fireworks shop in Nonthaburi was raided by police and its owner arrested after two students were killed by the homemade fireworks they had allegedly bought there for Loy Krathong.

Teppitak, 17, died last Wednesday night after the “ping pong” bombs exploded under his motorbike seat while he was driving back from the store.

His friend, Natthawut, 20, was taken to hospital but later died of his injuries, Khaosod English reported.

Police raided the fireworks shop in Bang Ku Lat market last week after a friend of the students told them they had bought the explosives there.

They arrested owner Piyawan Lertrattanathewi, 50, over selling fireworks without permission, and confiscated over 5,000 fireworks.
