Yesterday, Economic Crime Police searched a house in Pathum Thani’s Ladloomkaew district and captured five men in the midst of carrying out an illegal liquor operation.
During the search, police found over 1,500 bottles of whiskey and wine, worth a street value of THB2 million.
Chanathip Somnuekwanphairoj, the 43-year-old homeowner, told police that he bought cheap, smuggled spirit and mixed it with methyl alcohol and water before bottling it in brand name packaging.
Chanathip admitted to selling these fake bottles to nightclubs in suburban areas across the Greater Bangkok Area, INN reported.
