A disgruntled policeman was arrested yesterday for unloading a M16 combat rifle in his station’s investigation room.
Pol Lt-Colonel Burin Lalitathada’s outburst is believed to have stemmed from his discontent about his transfer. Burin was an investigating officer at Khlong Tan police station, but he was moved to an office position at Bang Yi Rua station for personal problems.
Burin’s fellow officers caught up with the loose canon as he tried to flee to the Myanmar border.
Officials speculate that his often absent and recent erratic behavior may be the result of drug use, The Nation reported.
