Bangkok’s skytrain has more to offer than a quick ride over the next few weeks. One train in the city now features a completely crowdfunded moving art installation. Universal Connection, an art installation by Kamin Lertchaiprasert, raised THB2.6 million on crowdfunding platform Asiola.

The art exhibition was installed on the train yesterday and will remain until the first week of August. The project is an effort by renowned Thai contemporary artist Kamin Lertchaiprasert as well as Wonderfruit festival founder Pete Phornprapha.

Backers who contributed to the project on the crowdfunding site will receive limited edition Rabbit Cards, t-shirts, silkscreens, and one-off charcoal drawings by Kamin as rewards.

The artsy train will alternate between the BTS Sukhumvit and Silom lines.

In the artwork, Kamin links fractal geometry to the human mind, soul, and the meaning of life, hoping to inspire riders and give them a chance for a little introspection in their everyday commute, as well as making Bangkok a better place.
