Coke to launch its first-ever herbal drink in Thailand

Coca-Cola has chosen Thailand to introduce its first-ever herbal drink – Habu – to the world. Habu is supposedly a healthy beverage of rosella, liquorice, luo han guo and cogon grass. The soft-drink giant said it hopes the new drink will grab the top spot amongst the THB21 billion Thai herbal beverage market, which has grown 25 percent annually for the past 3 years.

Coke has invested THB160 million into a year-long campaign titled “Habu Cooling” by hiring celebrities Pope and Ko Tee, to create brand recognition, and a strong one million bottle sampling crusade.

The name Habu was inspired by the English word ‘herbal,’ however habu is also the name of a Japanese venomous snake, The Nation reported.
