Don’t want to cram together with others for a COVID-19 jab? Bangkok’s top minds have a new plan to bring it to you.
City Hall this afternoon announced that it will launch a home vaccination service called “BMV” (BKK Mobile Vaccination unit) consisting of a bus that goes to people’s homes to administer a COVID-19 vaccine.
The service is anticipated to start next week at the earliest, according to Bangkok Metropolitan Administration spokesman Pongsakorn Kwangmuang. He did not say which areas in Bangkok the “BMV” buses will cover.
The bus will be equipped with medical equipment including a bed, blood pressure monitor, refrigerator for vaccine storage and defibrillator.
Thailand as of Monday had administered more than 27 million doses. By a great majority – 20 million of those shots – were first doses, while 6.2 million were a second dose. Only roughly 550,000 people have been administered third-dose boosters.
Apart from trumpeting the retrofitted buses, City Hall provided no information about how or where they would be deployed.
