A city garbage collector was shot last night at the anti-government protest site at Pathumwan intersection.
Tossapol Ngamlamai, 35, a city garbage collector was shot in the ankle by unidentified gunman while he was on duty. Another bullet grazed his skull.
Also, a 45-year-old woman from Surat Thani, Samlee Tongkaew, fainted and was also admitted to Chulalongkorn Hospital along with Tosspol.
According to investigators, Tossapol sought to perform his duty collecting garbage behind Siam Discovery at midnight, but a protest guard did not allow him to pass. He left, and while standing in the middle of the Hua Chang bridge, he was shot.
Gunfire was heard intermittently for 30 minutes after the incident.
The authorities believe the gunshots were fired from a tall building nearby, Thairath and Nation Channel reported.
