Hats off to a group of Chulalongkorn University students who took a goodwill trip to disadvantaged children living along the border in Ratchaburi province.
The students (and Coconuts readers) from the university’s Faculty of Communication Arts sent us these photos of the one-day English camp held Tuesday at the Ban Thumhin Border Patrol Police School where they met the youngsters, including Karen hill tribe children, to share some of their English language skills and just hang out and have fun with them.
“As I came down from the bus and stepped on to this place, I knew immediately that this place was different from where I lived,” wrote Chula student Peeti Leo-Likhit.
English camp leader Piraorn Saereesithipitak said she was struck by how the children took care of each other.
She wrote that she would not forget the sight “when the older children held the younger children’s hand, walked from the classroom to the cafeteria and had lunch together. This shows their brother-sister hood among this warm society.”
