China on vacation: Don Mueang Airport gears up for Chinese New Year

Don Mueang Airport is expecting a large number of tourists during Chinese New Year which will be celebrated next month.

Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) said the airport will increase its annual passenger capacity from 18.5 million to 30 million people when its South Corridor and Pier 5, currently under renovation, open for business at the end of the month.

The completion schedule is ahead of the upcoming Chinese New Year which falls this year between Feb. 3 to 15. The AOT expects up to 40,000 passengers to come through Don Mueang during the celebration.

Don Mueang Airport is also renovating its facilities and Terminal 2 is scheduled to be fully open for service on March 8, which marks the airport’s 102nd anniversary, state media reported.
