Child malnutrition worsens, study finds

Despite growing waistlines in Bangkok, many of Thailand’s children outside of the capital are still undernourished.

Children in the upper and lower reaches of the kingdom are undereweight, with malnutrition worse than it was when measured eight years ago.

According to UNICEF Thailand and the National Statistical Office, a survey of 27,000 families conducted two years ago found children in northeast and southern provinces suffered from relatively higher malnutrition.

Obesity is on the rise in the central region, it found.
