Chiang Mai University’s famous dog ‘Shortie’ steals hearts by joining freshman run up Doi Suthep

A famous stray dog who lives at Chiang Mai University, known widely as “Shortie,” made headlines this weekend by joining the 14-kilometer freshman run up Doi Suthep — and finishing it.

In the annual run on Saturday, Shortie was filmed running along the freshmen up the hill. He was well taken care of by the students, who served him water along the route and helped him get to the finish line.

Whether he ran up there or was carried to the top, Shortie made it to the stairs of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep

Being the star of his university, Shortie even has a fan page with almost 50,000 likes. The admin of the page said this is not the first year Shortie joined the annual run, and he always follows a crowd of students when there’s an activity at the university.

Some students call Shortie a “senior” since he’s obviously been around for a quite sometime.

In the video below, you can see Shortie was running fast among the freshmen at the 00:57-minute mark.
