Cars drown in motorway flash flood (PHOTOS)

An unfortunate Honda Jazz and a van drowned in the flood which followed the downpour last night on a motorway toll road.

The Bangkok-Chonburi motorway was submerged by a flash flood near the kilometer 116-117 in Bang Lamung district of Chonburi.

Due to a lack of warning signs, the two drivers were unaware of the flooded section and they drove right into the mass of water, leaving their vehicles stranded on the road for hours.

It was not reported if the drivers decided to leave their cars or if they stayed in their submerged vehicles and waited for help.

The water level was 1.20 meters high.

Around midnight, the water went down to 30 centimeters, possibly freeing the people who we imagine spent the night reassessing life.

Motorway rescue workers dried up the road and opened it to traffic early this morning, Thai PBS reported.
